There are diseases called 'Rare Diseases' and patients with them in Japan.
Rare diseases are the intractable diseases which are excluded from the Research Program for Overcoming Intractable Disease led by the government, and the actual condition is not grasped by anybody in Japan.
Rare disease patients who we support are fighting against their diseases with unknown causes all alone without any public support system or national policy for them while no research for the investigation of the cause or the development of treatment methods or medicines are done.

A non-profit organization 'The Supporting Organization for Patients with Rare Disease (SORD)' was established in 2008 under the strong faith and ideal to be of help for rare disease patients...

• To be released from the loneliness

• To gain social recognition for their diseases

• To live a hopeful and energetic life

We will keep going with a hope that our activities shape social systems and national policies in which patients with rare diseases can live hopeful lives in comfort in the near future.
At the same time, we hope our project is meaningful enough to touch the hearts of children and young generation who are responsible for our future and contributes to their growth as persons who feel, think and act.
